Lynne,

Thanks much for the reply. Perhaps you or someone can clarify a bit? I'm
unfamiliar with the term: "Tosslink digital audio", and the specs listed in the
wikipedia definition didn't shed any light on it for me.

My stereo's input jack has the standard two small female plugs. Will Apple
tv's "Tosslink digital audio" output fit? If not is there an adapter? For
example I can take a device like a computer sound board using a stereo cable
consisting of one male 3.5 MM plug at one end and two smaller male plugs on the
other.

Thanks again and best regards.
Geoff

  No

It has a Tosslink digital audio output and a HDMI connector.

  I hope that helps.

  Greetings,

In that bogus review Dane posted, the person mentioned that the Apple tv can
only connect via an HDMI port. I don't recall whether that was true? I am
considering the Apple tv for its intended purpose, but was also thinking of
connecting it to a stereo via an audio cable and setting it up as a speaker to
use with the airfoil software product.

My stereo does not have an HDMI input, so my question is whether the Apple tv
has the three prong audio/video output jacks I would need, or alternatively is
there an adapter or cable that would accomplish my objective?

  TIA and best regards.
