Hi David, 
Many thanks - that fixed the problem. When I looked at view options for column 
view the arrange by was set to Name and the sort by to size.did When I set the 
arrange by to None and the sort by to Name all worked as before. I too am now 
unclear about the difference between arrange by and sort by. Can anyone 
enlighten us?
