Hi Geoff,
I can't comment on whether it was world-wide or not, as I don't yet own a 4S 
though would love to in the near future. Some hiccups are probably to be 
expected in the early days, though I can understand why people might not be 
very happy with the crash. I imagine Apple's internal server maintenance people 
are working to ensure this sort of thing is a rare occurrence.
