Thousands upon thousands of text editors for the iPad/iPhone, I use
Notesy though I'm sure others will recommend many others <smile>.
Notesy is about as simple as you can get if you want to edit text files,
the app can sync with your Dropbox account thus what you edit on your
computer you can see and edit on your IOS device.
Notesy uses the spell checking capabilities of the IOS device.
Another thought, why not just use the "Notes" app to take notes?
