Hi Dónal,
Okay, I've done a bit of digging and think I have an answer to this. There are
three types of tweets, mentions, @replies, and normal tweets.
Mentions are where a person's account name is not at the beginning of a tweet,
but merely somewhere in the middle. "Hello @Dónal," etc.
These appear in the timelines of anyone following the sender of the mention.
@replies have a person's twitter name at the start of them, and only appear in
your timeline normally if you're following both sender and recipient.
Regular tweets appear everywhere.
So there is no setting you need to change, or if there is I couldn't find it.
You should see both regular tweets and mentions, but not @replies unless you
follow both parties involved.
Hope this helps,
Zack.
