Well, you could try a hard link instead of a sim-link, but I don't
think it would work any better, but it's always worth a try.
To do a hard link, use a -h instead of a -s in the ln command. Hard
links work well in cases where it's desirable to have direct access
to a file (generally where file systems won't follow sim-links) but
you can't do a hard link across devices like you can with sim-links,
so their usefulness is limited, but sometimes, they do get around
issues where programs won't access things via a sim-link.
