Hello everybody

It's been brought to my attention, quite properly, that the number of replies
to welcome messages is growing to such an extent that list traffic is becoming
both off topic and out of control for some members.

Having reviewed the recent posts, I share the concern of the member who raised
this with me.

So, may I request that members please do not reply to welcome messages on list.
That was originally part of the welcome message; I don't know how it got
removed, but it's been re-added.

I understand the desire of people to introduce themselves. However, other
members are replying to the intros, replying to the reply to the intros, and so
it goes on. So, we are now going to have to try and monitor this more
diligently in an effort to keep list traffic topical.

So, in summary; please do not reply to welcome messages. I have contacted some
off list about this, but please, all, let's keep traffic on topic so that it
doesn't get out of hand. We're losing members because of this, and those
members have contributed a great deal of useful information to the group. So
your cooperation and understanding would be appreciated. We are going to watch
this carefully from this point onwards.

Thank you.

Lynne
