Greetings,

I'm attempting to read a publication on my MBP running 10.7.3. It comes as
either a 20.3 ePub document or a 60.3 MB PDF.

When I open the epub, it launches an empty textedit window. I've waited
several minutes to allow time for the file to open, but the file always appears
to be blank.

When I open the PDF, I can see the document in preview, but have not yet
determined how to easily move around. Once I managed to jump to a page, but
have not been able to make this happen with any degree of certainty. There
must be a proper permutation of interaction and goto commands since it did
happen once.

I tried pressing command-option-g and entering a page number in the resulting
dialog. I then have to stop interacting with the tool bar and vo-arrow to the
text. If I use the scroll gesture it seems to reflect my desired position, but
when I interact and start reading I'm at the top.

Is there a better mac app for reading large documents? If not, what step am I
missing in preview?

TIA for any/all suggestions and best regards.
Geoff
