it's probably a mater of habits. I've no choice; I must use an "office suite" for my job, on a Mac. Only Iwork seems to work with VO. i've try to use Mac Open Office, Neo Office and the Microsoft suite, without success. I'll get some courses on Iwork with 2 pro but ... in some weeks... I've fond a user guide on the Apple's website : not to bad to understand how to use Iwork (in French). One day i could help you...! if you need/wish to use Iwork. ...
