Hello all It is important to understand the difference in behaviour between various methods of acquiring software updates.
If you go to the app store and just highlight the radio button that says "Updates", only third party updates will be retrieved, not system updates. If, however, you use the software updates in the Apple Menu, only system updates will be retrieved. So be aware that the two functions are different.
