Hi Travis, Up through Snow Leopard you could hold down the Option key with either the Up or Down arrow and just wait a little to move to the top or bottom of the messages table in Mail. This applied only to Mail, and was a system feature that did not depend on VoiceOver. Unfortunately, this system feature went away in Lion and above. It should still work for Mail if you try this on machines running Snow Leopard or earlier versions of Mac OS X.
