No. use the p key. p for 1 marker and p for the other marker. It will split 
between the 2. There are other keystrokes but that's what I do for splitting 
stuff. if you want to  put a marker where you pause hit cmd y first then p. but 
if you are fast enough you can do this whilst the file is playing just by 
hitting p.
