Good question. I really don't know. the last time I tried to do it I got a 
disaster. I mainly do my editing after the recording  in case I flub up and 
need to start again. or take a bit out when I sneeze violently lol!

Update: I just tried and it dings at you so you have to do it whilst the file 
is playing back as far as I know.

I hope someone can correct me if I'm wrong.
