The problem almost certainly isn’t with Java itself, but is with VoiceoVer’s 
poor support for this particular app, and Java-based GUIs in general. Sadly, I 
don’t know the specifics of how you can resolve this one. I’ve never done more 
than give the preferences a cursory look myself, and avoid Java whenever i can.
