You can configure skype itself to tell you when you have a chat
message, once you get that message, usually you can just move your
voiceover cursor to the control that voiceover calls a grid and read
the message, not totally automatic but very simple.

Good morning, I am new to this list so hi to you all, I was wondering
if there is away to get voice over to read incoming skype chats while
a person is in the skype chat window? I have had voiceover read a
chat window when I am out of skype itself but when I am in skype's
window it just tells me who is skype chatting me. Any help would be
appreciated for this issue of mine. It could be I am just a spoiled
windows jaws user who has scripts installed so jaws is able to do what
I am asking here.
