Actually you can use vo command t and vo shift command t to to move to the file browser or list view table. The first one will take you to the side bar, ignore that, the second table is the vile table where you will pick your location. The file type thing is all the way to the right, so just hit vo shift end, then vo left a few times. to get to that pop up button. Hit cmd 2 to get in to list view and it should remember what you wanted in the first place. it's actually quite intuitive once you realize the look of the dialogue box as 99 percent of the save as dialogues are going to be this way, at least for now.
