Hi Andrea,
To solve this problem one would select settings -> general -> passcode lock.
From there, either turn off the passcode, or set the "require passcode"
value to a choice other than "immediately". I have mine set to "every four
hours", which, in my environment strikes the right balance between security
and convenience.

If all else fails, the best method might be to do a restore/reset from
iTunes. We were prompted to set this up when we updated our devices I
think, but it was quite some time ago. We don't have to enter it each
time we unlock the device; having to do so would be incredibly irritated I
agree. I am not sure, it's been ages since we powered them off, but I
think you're prompted to enter them following a power cycle.

Subject: security pen code on unlock?
I have a friend that just updated her iPhone 5 to ios 7 and now would like
to remove the 4 digit pen code that she is having to type in at unlock.
It seems that after the setup was complete, she as prompted for a 4 digit
code several times and entered it each time. Can this not be removed, and
if so where and how. Details would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
