Hi Dónal, Zack, and Gena,

As Zack said, I think the default format of the command line prompt for
Terminal under Mavericks is not a big issue. However, I'll just mention for
Gena that by default root is disabled under all Mac operating systems, it
doesn't show up as a separate account, and for nearly all purposes you really
don't need root access privileges the way you do in Linux. But if you really
want to enable root, there are Apple Knowledge Base articles that tell you how
to do it. Instructions are specific to the operating system, so include
"Mavericks" in your search, or you'll get the instructions for doing this on
Lion and below.

And anyone who downloaded X11 for running command line tools in Home Brew and
other such packages, or needs to run Java, will, of course, have to load these
up again under the new operating system.

Cheers,

Esther
