Must be using classic view then. Will check.

For me, in modern view, Command Option arrows work but Option arrows does not.

For me, both Option plus arrow key and Cmd-Option plus arrow key take me to the
top or bottom of the message table in Mavericks and always in the same column.
The commands also both work for me when not interacting with the table. I’m in
classic view.

Sorry Bryan I’m wrong; it does stay in the same column. Not sure what I hit
the first time. Apologies for any confusion.

Hi Folks — Can anyone verify that Command+Option+up/down arrow keys are now
initiating the jump to top/bottom of a message list in Mavericks Mail?
I finally got around to installing the public release of Mavericks and, as
others have mentioned, found I was no longer able to use the Option+up/down
arrow keys to jump to the top or bottom of a column in the Mail message list.
However, I am now able to instead perform this jump using the
Command+Option+up/down arrow keys. This is working for me in both standard and
classic mail views, and leaves focus in the same column in classic view. This
keystroke does not require waiting a moment as the previous Tiger - SL versions
did. The jump happens immediately. Sorry Esther, as far as I can tell it does
not seem to recognize threads in any way.
This is on a 2011 MBA running the latest Mavericks release with all software
updates.
Cheers,
Bryan

Call me easy to please, but I am thrilled that they’ve reinstated the ability
to use the Option+Up/Down arrows to move to top and bottom message rows in
Mavericks’ Mail.app
