I'm not sure whether this applies to Docuscan+ for the Mac, you could at one time take out a "Rental" on the product for want of a better description, that is you paid per month for as long as you required the use of the software so perhaps that may be worth investigating.
As it happens - whilst I agree that the payment for a lifetime licence is a lot out of the bank at one time - its a one off payment so therefore works out cheaper in the long run, no additional charges for software updates over time for example. Many of the professional "Off-The-Shelf" solutions sell for around this amount and will require you to pay upgrade charges down the track most likely as new versions and updates come out. I also like the fact that Docuscan+ has been designed for those who are in similar situations as to what most of us are, that is to say the software has been designed for those with a visual impairment for those users who have a visual impairment.
