Hi Zack and Andy, I suspect the reason that Andy is having issues with the insertion point location and that Zack isn't, is that Andy configured his VoiceOver cursor to "behave more like JAWS" by changing his VoiceOver Utility configuration. When this discussion came up some months ago, Anne posted the information on how to get VoiceOver to speak text to the right of the cursor instead of its default behavior of announcing the insertion point at its actual position, which is between letters. When you move over existing text for editing purposes, the letters or words that you hear depend on the direction of movement, and it is always the last character or word that you move over that is announced.
I haven't switched from the default VoiceOver reporting for the cursor, but I suspect that Andy switched his settings by going to VoiceOver Utility, Verbosity, Text, When moving the cursor: click the button and select Speak text to the right of the cursor. I can imagine that this might lead to his confusion in editing existing text on web pages on the Mac. Not sure what a good solution is if he wants to keep using this setting. HTH.
