Hi Lewis - seems such poor practice to make it so difficult to remove an account. I've gone deeper in to it, and you have to actually contact their customer service to do this. I tried following the steps for this, but could only get so far with their contact screens, but not far enough to complete my request for account deletion.
They also said somewhere that you could edit the account, just blocking out profile details with junk characters. This would still leave the Skype name active, but there would be no profile details visible other than the junk characters in the edit fields. They said to insert junk characters because it wasn't possible to save changes if the fields were blank. I had a go at this too, but when I went back in to my account, the changes hadn't been saved.
