Ok, sorry, but curiosity got the best of me. As my subject says, how does apple create it's voiceover voices? I got to thinking about all the screen reader voices out there, particularly Apple's voiceover, but also JAWS, SAPI screen reader voices, NVDA, Window Eyes, etc. With regards to voiceover, I was looking at the large variety of voices that they've put out, both in different languages and just with in one language, take U.S. English, or French for example. How does a company like Apple build these voices? Does it totally rely on voice over actors that they record? Or is there some program out there that serves as the basis for their voices that they create? Further, I got to thinking, if a person wanted to build their own voiceover compatible voice, say in English or another language, is that possible? And if it is possible, how would one go about it?
Sorry for my wondering curiosity, but I really am wondering now and I would love to learn more about this.
