We are talking about the musical keyboard that is opened with command shift K in GB, not an external MIDI keyboard. At any rate, the l"r" shortcut is a non-essential. The problem mainly is getting around in GB for the first time - it isn't intuitive at all and takes some patience before becoming familiar with the layout and its operation.
