Hi Paul — I’m not particularly happy with some of the changes in Mavericks Calendar, but I’m able to modify alerts using the following steps. Note that none of my calendar events are google-based, so I’ can’t speak to possible differences in behavior that might be related to google calendar events viewed in Calendar.app. Also, while I do have several google mail accounts, I use my me.com account for email alerts in Calendar. 1. Highlight the existing event in Calendar. 2. Press Cmd+i to open the Inspector. 3. Navigate to the existing alert(s). 4. Press VO+Spacebar to activate the alert’s popup button. 5. Scroll to the bottom of the popup list and select Custom. 6. Here I am presented with the following list of choices: Message, Message with sound, email, or Open File. Selecting one of these provides additional options depending on context. 7. Make the desired changes and press OK to save them.
