I exclusively use the screen curtain, and the battery life on my phone exceeds expectation. I use the iPhone 5 with the latest update, and apps update automatically, and my bluetooth and WIFI are always on. Last I heard, the official word from Apple Accessibility was that the IOS screen curtain has no effect on battery life. BTW, though I’ve done no official testing, my personal experience leads me to believe this also holds true for the MacOS screen curtain on Macbooks.
