I went and checked the Inspector and the folder was indeed unlocked but, thinking about it, this has to have been the case otherwise the DropBox synch could not work as it should.
I then thought give it another go. You never know. Again the DropBox app spent an hour transferring files before giving up the ghost saying I did not have sufficient permission to complete the task. This is a real annoyance as I have a small 256GB solid state primary drive and DropBox is unnecessarily hogging up a whole 60gb of this. I think a complete clean install of Maverick is probably my only course and hope that this time when I install DropBox that I can specify the DropBox folder location at install stage.
