I tried this last night from another list but I still cannot have the text
of the book read out to me, I seem to be all the time on page numbers.

I think the problems with iBooks is overblown.
You can label most of the unlabelled buttons by using shift VO H to hear
the help tag and then copy last phrase spoken to clipboard VO Shift C and
then VO / for edit button label and command V and enter. You should not
have to do this but it took me only about 5 minutes to label most of the
buttons. The first couple do not have help tags but most of the rest do.
I found that books opened easily in list views.
1. Command l to bring up library.
2. Interact with and highlight the book you want to open from the library
table.
3. Press command O to open the book.
4. Navigate to scroll area and interact.
5. Finally navigate to html area and interact and you can easily read the
book here.

Hi
At this point in time, I see absolutely no reason why the move to
Mavericks shouldn’t be across the board, to be honest. Keep in mind
that Apple has released 4 major updates since the initial release of
Mavericks and most of the little quirks have been ironed out. Also,
when Apple releases Yosemite later this year, it will make the next
upgrade smoother as well.
Mavericks is fine, and I personally would recommend it to any Mac
client.
Kindest regards

Hi Ian -
I haven't upgraded yet, I only got this Macbook Air a year ago, running
Mountain Lion, and wanted to get familiar with it before having to
start to learn more new stuff under Mavaricks. One thing I'm not sure
of if I upgrade, is if I don't back up my data, will I automatically
lose it during the upgrade -

Hi listers
I have a 2010 mac mini, running mountain lion. It is a little slow
opening apps but not too bad yet. I am about to start a degree in
September and may be getting a laptop as well, which will probably be
using Mavericks or Yosemite.
I am looking for opinions as to the pros and cons of upgrading to
Mavericks at this time and whether my mac mini will be better or worse
with the upgrade.
Not urgent, but thought others may be having the same thoughts.
Thanks
Ian
