You can't use it to control your cable, but you can activate most channels on the appleTV because you have a cable subscription. You get Netflix, hulu, cnbc, crackle, dizney, dizney JR, life time, ANE, and much much more. Some of these you may neeed sited help to activate, but most you can do with just the voice over support and remote. Good luck
