Matthew,
This utility installs the distro you want onto the thumbdrive, and you boot 
it up, like it is on a CD/DVD.
So you will be a live user, and can install it along side your OS or just 
use it from the thumbdrive.

When you say it installs it  do you mean it installs it to the thumb drive. 
I want to install the latest sonar based off of mangaro.  HTH.
