Hi Paul,
Family sharing is an IOS 8 feature. Your wife can go ahead to create her own
Apple ID and password to set up the iPhone in her name. All she need to do
in order to use the apps you already purchased with your ID, is to go to
settings > iTunes and logout and login with your Apple ID and password, then
she should go to apps store, under the search tab, she can search for the
apps you have already purchased. In this case, the download button will be
available.
HTH,
Regards,
Godwin Adoyi

Subject: iPhone Family sharing question

Hello,
I have an iPhone 5S running IOS 8.0.2 which I sync to iTunes on my iMac. My
wife will shortly inherit an iPhone 4 which has been reset to factory
settings and which I recall will run IOS 7 but not IOS 8. She will want to
manage this from her Windows PC and so will install iTunes on that PC.

Presumably when my wife first connects the iPhone 4 to iTunes she will have
to sign onto the iTunes store using my Apple ID and password and to tell
iTunes that the iPhone 4 is a new phone. If she accesses the iTunes App
store from the iPhone 4 she will likewise have to sign on using my Apple ID
and password.

Can my wife then install for free some of the Apps I have purchased from the
iTunes store? If so what does she have to do to achieve that?

I have enabled family sharing on my iPhone 5S but am not clear if all
sharing devices have to be IOS 8.

Many thanks for your advice.

Paul Hopewell
