Actually, Handbrake encodes the video, plus, if it is a copy protected DVD not only does it have to encode, but it also has to decode the incription as well. One hour for a 3 hour long movie is actually not bad when you consider. This means it's basically encoding at 3X. Even on my newer system, when you say old, I'm not sure how old you mean of a system, but on my mac mini mid 2012 running OSX 10.9.5 Mavericks, so not even Yosemite, and 16GB ram, with the AppleĀ® USB aluminum Superdrive, it takes me about that long for a 2 hour long DVD, but again, that's only encoding the DVD to things like an AVI, or M4V, or .MPEG, etc. That's not what I, at least, am wanting. I'm! literally wanting to make a 100 percent duplication.

Before anyone asks, why can't you just use a program that makes an exact CD or DVD to CD or DVD copy? It's not that easy. If the movie's incrypted, then, that isn't gonna work.

Chris.

It will still work. Just add the files to the queue and go. then go have a coffee while you wait. I thinkt he reason it took so long was I was running on an older system.

Good luck.

Hi, Sarah. Thanks. That's terrible performance. I have a 20-minute DVD I need copied.--Matthew Chao

hand brake can do it, but it's very verys low, takes about an hour or so to do a 3 hour long dvd.

Take care.
