Here's why you get those messages from google. The package that's accessing gmail hasn't got the most modern security features in it. To fix this, you'll need to go into account settings and check the box that says allow less secure software to access your gmail account. Supposedly easier for hackers to get in once you do this, but even the most modern security features were no protection for the Federal employees and retirees that had their accounts hacked over at OPM.

Subject: [Mac-Access]: gmail

Hi there.
I am wondering if anyone can help with gmail.
I can access it on the web, and have set it up for my computer to download the
email.
Sometimes it does, other times I get a message from gmail saying they blocked
an attempt to access my mail and I know it was my computer trying to download.
I even checked that it would do it from my computer, but I am still getting
error messages sometimes.
Any ideas?
Thanks.
Lovette
