It's strange but when trying to read an email containing an uncontrolled amount of spelling errors, a dearth of punctuation, the absence of capitalization... I don't know why, but I start to get irritated trying to read it. I think that, as the words on the virtual paper are the only way to truly understand a person, such technical difficulties seem to get in the way, I guess. It's like in your TV signal; you can kind of see and hear, but it's irritating to try and mentally filter out the snow. > 'Face value' means exactly that. Also, if a person is unaware of a problem, they may be experiencing the resultant friction induced by that problem without realizing the cause. So, if they aren't discerning that cause, they may never change and yet have to exist with the consequences. Once someone becomes or is made aware of a problem, then their own values will dictate their actions. Some people (all of us at times in our lives, to be sure) may dig in their heels to resist such change as it's an admission of imperfection within themselves. But look; no one can change the entire world, and proper spelling and attempts at proper grammar (I think I use too much punctuation in my sentences) and capitalization is what people use to 'read between the lines". Right or wrong, it's a fact of life in the digital age, period. The bottom line, just or unjust? Will, use a spell checker and take it easy on the exclamation points. It will serve you well, long after you've left this list (which I hope you don't). > Now we seem to be so far off topic that we may never get back on, my apologies > to the other list members. > Well, at least you didn't start it, Mark :-) Now for God's sake, let's talk about Macs again!
