I recently got ahold of a Handspring Visor Deluxe from their website (
http://www.handspring .com ), and have been very pleased with it - the best
purchase I made all year. It's Palm compatible, and with its USB cradle and
PalmConnect software is very Mac compatible too, the Visor and Mac were up
and communicating with each other minutes after installing the software and
rebooting the Mac.

I'm already making good use at it for work-related stuff, and it's come
in handy for making notes about upcoming events. I'm even using it as a
newspaper with the AvantGo service. Now all I need is some of the
Springboard modules like the camera and the SmartMedia reader, and I can use
it for digital photography.

Palm and Visor seem to be having a price war at the moment, so this
would be a good time to look into getting one. I just saw that
Staples/Business Depot currently has the Palm M100 on sale for $149 CDN, the
lowest price yet for a PDA I've seen (note that to get it to talk to your
Mac that you'll need either a serial adaptor or go for a USB cradle).

Note one thing about RAM: a 2MB model is great for your basic notes,
phone messages, address book, memoes, etc. However, if you want to have
things like AvantGo, using it as an E-Book reader, or having a number of
extra programs like games, go for the 8MB models. I note that Handspring now
has a 16MB model out, and that seems to be complete overkill :)
