According to Orange Micro, USB 2.0 cards won't work in machines earlier than beige G3s (rev. B), apparently due to a PCI bus incompatibility. I notice that Belkin only lists their USB 1.1 cards as Mac compatible. Better check that out before making the jump. The workaround, according to OM, is a Firewire/USB2 combo card, which has its own PCI bridge chip, thereby avoiding the compatibility problem. But apart from the speed issue, you might be fine with your existing card.
