P2P was the leveller. So, you're saying that STEALING is okay by you, then? Stealing is WRONG. Even when I do it, and I KNOW THAT. Don't kid yourself. >>> Unreasonable use of >>> such privileges should be punished and punished heavily. It is NOT a fair balance. You suspect price gouging or price fixing? Assemble your data, assemble fellow complainants, AND LAUNCH A CLASS ACTION SUIT! THAT is how it is supposed to be done. The way most people think of all this (and you seem to be one of them) is to think of it in a guerrilla war fashion: "F**K 'em any which way you can, 'cause they're evil!" Well, guess what? The more you do that, the more harsh their counter-measures will become and the crappier ALL OF OUR computing experience -- those who are legal RIGHT ALONG with those who are not -- will become. You want an example? HOW ABOUT APPLE KILLING THE SHARING FEATURE IN iTunes?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! http://news.com.com/2100-1027_3-1010541.html God! That PISSES ME OFF!! You see? People can't be trusted. They cannot be mature enough to RESTRAIN THEMSELVES and THINK about what they're doing, right Eric? I really liked the iTunes streaming thing. It was MORE REAL than Kazaa in all the ways that jerkoffs gush about P2P swapping in the first place! With P2P, if you don't know the name of some obscure hip group, YOU WOULD NEVER KNOW TO GET THEIR MUSIC! With iTunes sharing, you could go to the several sites that popped up where people could list their styles and playlists and IP addresses and you could virtually walk into their living room, peruse their library of TAGGED MP3 files and check 'em out! "Hmm... This dude REALLY likes some group called "Chainsaw Buzz"... I think I'll have myself a listen." Or, "OMG! I haven't heard 'Saturday Night' by The Bay City Rollers" in years!" iTunes sharing was is cool. Or, I should say that WAS cool. > However, in all of this one needs to remember > that a corporation is granted the *privilege* to do business with citizens. > Poor corporate citizenship needs to be dealt with, and if government cannot > do it, then the marketplace must. Oh, shut yer cakehole, man. That is a total, steaming load of BS! "One" needs to remember that you are NOT GRANTED the privilege of ANYTHING in this life, lest you pay for it. THAT is the truth in all things. If you do not like it, there is a tired old cliché that applies: VOTE WITH YOUR WALLET. > We've seen how difficult it is with a monopoly like MicroSerf -- they have > undeniably behaved as a monopoly and *abused* that monopoly power. All it will do is limit our freedoms -- as evidenced by today's developments. >> Also, if the music is good enough for you to keep, don't you think that it >> is fair to pay the piper (et al)? I wasn't implying anything to you in that remark, but if the shoe fits? It is starting to look like it is.
