While your in there stick in a bigger hard drive. We put a 40G in ours a coupla years ago. Goes like stink and we're happy as clams. Keep recycling these babies as long as the crt lasts is my take. There's a limit of course to cost/benefit, but Ram and HDs are easy and well worth it.
I remember d/ling an iMac revD tech manual somewhere - might have been on Apple's site. Good pictures of teardown with instructions. Don't have time now to look. If you need it, just post again here.

Too true... actually installed an 80 GB Seagate drive ($90.00) from OZTech in Mississauga at the same time, and you are right- it flies now- no more crashing due to no VM space, etc.!
