Things are pretty quiet on here so I'll ask this and hope to get some assistance.
I'm trying to unite a Mac on a network with mostly PCs on it. I've installed Dave in order to use the printer which is connected to a PC. Right now, however, I can only connect to the Mac from my PC, not the other way around. Since windows can't see much except the folders on the Mac so I figure I have to go the other way to move some scanned pictures to the PC.
The main problem now is that when I try to connect to the network through GO then Connect to Server, I type in the ip of the computer I want to connect to then Dave pops up and says there is no path to the computer. If I go in to try and set up Dave, it says it can't work with smb or sfis running. At one point, I followed the directions from a site which had me copy and paste a few lines into Terminal which, I think, turned on or installed SMB. I have unchecked SMB in Directory Access but the message still pops up. Then, if I disable Dave and check SMB to try and use it, Dave still pops up! Very frustrating.

Any tips? In the Directory Access menu there are Appletalk, BSD, Dave, LDAPv2 and v3, Netinfo, NIS, Rendezvous, SLP and SMB. Which of those do I need to check or configure to simply use Dave? I think I have tried every combo but nothing's worked yet. Sometimes I can see the computer I want to access but can't get into it.

Thanks!

BM
