Hi David,
I also use a G4/733 QS and I'm wondering what special stuff you want
to do regarding Quartz Extreme.
One of Apple's spec pages says:
"Quartz Extreme GPU requirements
* 16MB of video memory (32MB recommended)
* AGP 2X (AGP 4X recommended)
* Any Macintosh desktop computer with an AGP 2X
slot or better can be upgraded with a supported
graphics card to take advantage of Quartz Extreme."
And the G4/733 AGP AFAIK normally comes native with a 32MB NVIDIA
GeForce2 MX Graphics card installed in its 4X AGP slot.
That should certainly qualify the minimum Quartz Extreme requirements.
If you're having problems, try setting the monitor to a lower
resolution and see if that helps with your 'project(s)'.

I have a G4 tower 733 MHz AGP. I want to upgrade it so that it can
do Quartz Extreme stuff. i.e when I bring up a Dashboard widget I
would like to see the effect. OK I want to do more than that, but if
I can do that then other stuff will work :-)
I have looked at the Apple site and found the compatible card
numbers/names, but am not sure which ones will work with this
machine.
Any suggestions as to what cards will work and where to get 'em?
Thanks
David
