Daystar Technology still make the zif carrier adapter cards which
allow a G3/G4 zif processor to be installed in a pci mac 601/604/e/v cpu
slot like the 7xx/8xx/9xx macs. I think the fastest zif which can be used
with these carriers is G4 500mhz or perhaps 550mhz. A software cache
disabler is also required if there is a cache on the mac motherboard as
the zifs have onboard cache.
A zif fitting kit is also required with the thermal contact grease
etc which allows the heat to dissipate via the clip on heatsink. I'm not
too sure about compatability with all makes of zif but the carrier will
allegedly take all Apple and XLR8 brand zifs.
