I had a probably entirely unrelated problem with the BT Home Highway USB
modem linked to my Snow iMac.

The modem has the added facility of dynamic dial up (or something like that)
where the modem will start off with just one channel and switch in the
second channel for the full 128K ISDN experience when required, switching it
off when not. This I thought would be a jolly good idea to minimise dial up
costs and still enjoy midband surfing.

Unfortunately, what would happen is that the second channel would
intermittently log on and off, often for only a matter of seconds. Each
time this did this I was charged the minimum call charge of 5p. Several
hundred unknown phone calls later I was left with a phone bill of 150 for
the quarter!

Several phone calls to BT and the ISP showed that neither side would take
any responsibility and I decided to cut my losses and stop. I now use
Freeserve Anytime which allows a single channel connection and keep the
dynamic switching (co-bonding?) selected out at all times.

I can't wait for the arrival of ADSL in November!
