If you want order complete silence with your big Mac and still get the

way of doing this: upgrade the late lamented fanless Cube.
You don't need to upgrade it, though, as an unmodified Cube will run all of these quite happily (well, heavy duty graphics and video editing will seem a bit slow), although for Quartz Express you'll need one of the later models with the ATI Rage 128 Pro card. Although it is normally completely silent it does make some noise when accessing the HD.
For example you can run a 1.2 Giga Designs upgrade model # GCC5A-1000-S2 (no
fan) + the nVidia GeForce 2MX (32MB) aka NVidia, NV-11 Video Card (no fan)
for Quartz Extreme + a silent HD like one of the fast, fanless and silent
Seagate Barracuda drives.
I recently upgraded the HD on my Cube to a 120 MB Seagate Barracuda and was disappointed to find that it was noiser than the original HD.
However my 15" Aluminium Powerbook is virtually silent the whole time, with only some barely noticeable clicks when accessing the HD - certainly the quietest Powerbook I've ever owned.
