There are widespread documented accounts of OS X rejecting some RAM as not
compatible or such on various platforms (personally i've come across it mostly
in iMacs and PowerMacs upgraded with el-cheapo RAM) so it's not outside the
bounds of possibility that it could be rejecting the RAM.

It's Kingston RAM so it may be worth giving their UK branch a call and asking
if they have any ideas, or if they will replace it as they and Crucial are
reckoned to be the best around in the UK in my book, and I think their RAM has
a pretty good (if not lifetime?) guarantee.
