Anyone know what kind of wireless card would work in a 3400 Powerbook (OS 9.1, 200mHz, 48mb RAM - currently trying to locate 128mb stick to max out the ram at 144mb)?
I bought a Roamabout card from www.powerbookparts.com but the guy screwed me on the postage (charged me $25 and the label on the box said about $7.50 postage and he can't have used more than a few $$ worth of packing) and didn't respond when I tried to complain. He has a 'mixed' reputation also. Some people like him and some people have been badly ripped off by him.
I discovered afterwards that IOXperts make a driver suit for OS 9 that supports a vast array of PCMCIA wireless cards. It costs about $10 to register or something and works like a charm although I suspect it's slower than Apple's.
My biggest problem with using wireless on the 3400c is the PCMCIA slot hammers the CPU to death when it's working so surfing and shunting small files grinds mine to a halt. If i get sick if it I switch it to wired ethernet and it instantly gains about 40% of it's speed. I think that's just an I/O issue though.
