I wouldn't buy it for the B&W at least until you're sure it'll run on your upgraded machine. It should be fine on the iMac but you might want to wait for early reviews before deciding if it's worth the cost.
As others have mentioned, Think Secret is predicting that G5s and iMacs are imminent. Apart from that, though, the Apple Refurb Store (open on Wednesdays from 10.00 am) has recently been offering G5s at 20% off (and the reductions should increase once new machines have appeared).
