Once you get used to it you suddenly feel lost when you can't do it :)
I've not played with this particular package, and I've not yet managed
to get a Mac with high enough Spec for OS X, but under Linux
(theoretically close enough in principle to the Darwin/BSD underpinning
of OS X) things tend to be setup for a simple:

./configure
make
make install

type process to configure, compile and install the app.

Of course I'm the sort of person that will compile a new kernel to make
it smaller and optimise for the particular machines processor, so I'm
not a good example :)

I'll get my hands on OS X one day though, although having just acquired
a Mac SE I'm probably heading in the wrong direction spec wise ;)
