I have run into a problem with Tiger not working well with my
printers (Ethernet). It was OK ( bar a few odd events printing to the
Epson Stylus Pro 7500 ) until we followed the HP advice to Reset
Printing System as part of establishing Tiger compatibility with our
LaserJet - as published on their web site. This wiped everything and
meant we had to re-create printers in the set up utility. The Epson
driver (latest) does not install; every time I try to create a direct
driver I get an error message -9672 and the LaserJet will only print
as a generic printer with no adjustments. The HP utility for setting
up the printer is only available in Classic and we do not have
Classic or OS9 on any of our machines. So, thanks to HP, I can now
only print to the LaserJet at default settings and cannot print to
the Epson at all. I am minded to revert to Panther, hopeful that
this may restore the proper configurations. yet, I am loth to do so
if there is going to be a significant risk that the whole palaver
will not give me what I need in terms of printer contact but also I
am not sure how to go backwards with OSX short of installing a clean
new system. if I do, I have a big concern about how to restore all my
settings and preferences. If anyone has done this and can advise me I
would be very grateful.
