Well, Tiger continues to frustrate me...it seems to be one step forward and one step back with this OS. Today I backed up some directories off a Firewire drive to DVD using Finder burning and even though the operation completed with no error, only about 20% of the files were copied.

Which brings me to my question...is there a way to get a count of the number of files in a directory and all its subdirectories, either from the Finder of terminal?* Get Info just gives me a file size total which, when comparing files on hard disk to those on DVD never seems to match presumably due to formatting. Being able to match file counts would give me a bit more confidence.

Thanks
