Hello list,

my girlfriend decided to take her first steps into the Mac world (I had nothing to do with that..hehe).

Anyway, as her old wintel laptop is falling to bits, she needs to speed up her purchase. The budget is extremely tight at the moment (up to 100£) so a good candidate is G3 [EMAIL PROTECTED] This Powermac will have 512MB of memory and a big enough (>30gb) hard disk. Could you please send me your feedback regarding OS X performance on this machine?

Her primary use will be of course internet, word processing etc...so her needs are not extreme.

But will OS X be comfortable enough for even for these tasks on the Powermac?

A step up the Powermac ladder (to a Powermac [EMAIL PROTECTED]) would mean at least another 50£... and this is not easy at the moment.. :-( But if it takes ages to load a text document that includes a couple of pictures or open 3-4 tabs in Safari then the purchase would be meaningless

Thanks for your time!

Kostas
